It’s a fact of life: teens and preteens can sometimes get body odor.

Most parents will buy a stick of deodorant for their kids and discuss personal hygiene.

But one blogger says that might not always be the best idea.

Marianna Miller said she refuses to make her children wear deodorant because obsessing over your children robs them of their independence and sense of accomplishment.

She says that when you ask your child to wear deodorant, what they’re really hearing is “mom’s in charge of my body” or “mom is picking on me.”

Miller says to instead just buy your kids deodorant and let them decide if and when they want to use it.
