According to Fox 8 garden guru AJ Petitti, you need to assess the condition of your soil before you plant vegetables in your garden.

Petitti's will be growing vegetables for the Cleveland Indians this season. The team chef will regularly harvest those veggies and use them in recipes for the players.

The steps that Petitti's take to ensure a bountiful harvest at Progressive Field apply to every garden and Fox 8 plans on following the progress of The Player's Garden to help you with your gardening at home.

Wholly Cow Composted Cow Manure- adds a lot of organics to the soil

Espoma Soil Perfector- a one-time add that will keep the soil loose

Espoma Garden Tone- Organic fertilizer to help prepare the soil for planting

Espoma Garden lime- helps neutralize any acid in the soil to create an optimum growing environment for new plants
