WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS -  One team, one vision, one goal: that is mindset for the sixth and seventh graders at Warrensville Heights Middle School. They are making strides towards a return to excellence.

A rigorous curriculum is in place with an emphasis on real world application. A distance learning program in partnership with the Cleveland Clinic gives students interested in the medical field a way to learn about health, science and medicine directly from doctors.

The Progressive Arts of Alliance program is new this year. It incorporates science and math with art. These students made kinetic sculptures. "A kinetic sculpture is like a sculpture that moves and it is a form of art. I like it better than textbook learning because when you do hands things you learn a lot more than just reading,” sixth grader Tasheana Cole added.

Technology has replaced textbooks in many core classes, like English, math, science and social studies. Students are learning and doing their lessons on chrome books and iPads. "Most of the times, we use google classroom to do journal prompts, to write. Read 180 is a language arts website where you can do reading, words, spelling and writing,” sixth grader Arius Merles said.

From the visual arts to the performing arts, students find creative ways to express themselves. "I believe Warrensville Heights is a Cool School because because we get to have so many opportunities here. We have ballet classes. We have band. We have multiple sports. We just get to do multiple things and have multiple opportunities," seventh grader Deja Greenwood added.
