Nobody is more excited about being named the FOX 8 Cool School than Midview High School. This is the first time the Middies have been named a Cool School and they're ready to prove they deserve it.
Welcome to Midview High School.
"We're just fun, we know how to throw a party but without getting in trouble," said Freshman Kayla Danicki.
This place is a party with all the school trimmings, like an Engineering class.
"Building stuff and designing it and it's all your own idea and most of this stuff is open-ended and you can build whatever you want," Senior Jason Pickering said.
The opportunities truly are endless at Midview. How many kids get to read comic strips in art class to teach them a lesson?
"Here at Midview we have so many opportunities for everyone to get involved from yearbook to key club there is a chance for everyone and we have an awesome staff and teachers and coaches to support us through those," said Senior Lauren Ferritto.
Even in times of trouble, the Middies as their known, always find ways to come together.
"We have a student that is battling for her life right now through the community and through the sports we were able to raise awareness to help support her and her family," Katelyn Kish said.
These students truly are champions and not just in the classroom.
"The hockey, basketball and wrestling team we all won conference which brought Midview and really put them on the map. It was really good for the school," said Senior Eddie Brezina.
When it comes to teaching, these students are learning from some of the most creative teachers.
"The teachers are great, they prepare us for everything, they make sure we do fun activities," said Arlington McClinton. "They turn our activities that we do into learning so that it always makes it fun and not boring."
What makes Midview High School so cool, is not one thing in particular, it's a little bit of everything that makes this school special.
"What I think makes Midview a Cool School is our unity and that everybody gets along," Pickering said.
"We are a cool school because we are not just a school we are a community, we are a family, and when you walk through the doors everyday, it's just like being at home," Ferritto said.
"I think what makes it a cool school is how our school comes together at our basketball games like our stands would be packed an hour before the game even started," McClinton added.
This school is cool and these students certainly know it.
