LORAIN - These are the last days at Lorain High, as students will go to a brand new building in the fall. It will be a new school with the same mission: to inspire students to prepare for college or a career.

Lorain High offers a variety of educational opportunities --like early college and college credit plus classes. Students can also earn an associate’s degree along with a high school diploma -- through a program called Titan College.

"We have classes: there's history, there's math, there's chem, like bio and things like that. You get more attention and they prepare you for college more," sophomore Evelyn Williams said.

Sports, health and fitness is one of eleven Career Technical Education Classes offered at Lorain High. Students can get both vocational training and college credit.

"We learn a lot about athletic training and how to prevent sports injuries and how to treat sports injuries as well. We learn a lot about the anatomy of the body. For this class, if we complete two years of it, we get nine college credits," junior Solomon Vallarreal added.

TV production is both a technical class and an extra-curricular club. They broadcast on cable and their YouTube channel has had nearly a half million views. "TV 20, we record the basketball games for Lorain High Titans, the football games. We do productions where we have up to five cameras. We can edit the pictures and videos that we take and then we can post them on social media," freshman Jaiden Morales said.

With more than 180 cadets, Lorain High has an active and an award winning Junior ROTC program.

"We do a lot of community services in Lorain County. We also have drill teams that we do -- we have honor guard, color guard, and exhibition. We actually went to a Fort Knox competition this year and got third place overall for the unarmed division out of over 60 schools there," senior Dania Alvarado said.

The Lorain Titans have 17 varsity athletic programs. The boys basketball team was repeat regional finalists this year.

So, from athletics to academic opportunities, Lorain High – Home of the Titans – is a Cool School.
