OBERLIN, Ohio — Students at Oberlin High School are shedding some hair to benefit the Locks of Love organization.

At least 15 students have volunteered to donate their hair, which will be cut off by beauticians from the The Velvet Turtle Salon in Oberlin. The event will last all day, and students will be donating at least 10 inches of their hair to the non-profit.

The day’s festivities will also include several activities during students’ lunch periods, including nail painting, hair chalking and an open gym.

The event was organized by Victoria Middlebrooks, a student at the school, as part of a year-long project.

Locks of Love is a non-profit organization which helps children with medical-related hair loss.
