Akron, Ohio — The Akron Public Library has announced plans and the latest addition for this year’s summer reading program.

The Mind, Body & Sole: Read at Your Own Pace summer reading program begins Monday, June 9, and runs through August 30.

New to the summer reading program this year are guided one-mile walking tours of the Main Library on June 14, 21 and 28 at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. featuring public artwork. Organizers say tour walkers should wear comfortable shoes and arrive five minutes prior to each tour.

Organizers say Mind, Body & Sole readers can participate in the summer reading program in two ways, via reading at their own pace or completing 26 miles during the duration of the program. Readers who choose and complete the second option will receive a Mind, Body & Sole t-shirt and be entered into a grand prize drawing September 20 during the library’s 140th anniversary party.
