ASHTABULA COUNTY, Ohio — The Lake County General Health District is offering free HIV testing to residents.

The testing will take place at the Salvation Army in Ashtabula County on Thursday, April 18, and takes 20 to receive results. Testing is conducted using a swab of the mouth.

Everyone taking part in the testing will receive a $10 gas card.

According to the Lake County General Health District, about 1 in 5 of those infected with HIV are not aware of their status.

The Salvation Army in Ashtabula is located at 3527 Lake Avenue.
