AKRON, Ohio — The city of Akron is accepting entries from residents to help make the downtown area go green.

The seventh annual Green & Clean Day in downtown Akron will be held on Friday, May 2. The program is accepting individual and team entries to participate through Friday, April 11.

More than 300 volunteers, along with the Downtown Akron Partnership, will clean blocks and wash newspaper boxes, parking meters and benches. Groups will also plant flowers, clean store fronts and beautify green spaces.

Volunteers may work the morning shift from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., the afternoon shift from 1-4 p.m., or both. Each volunteer receives a t-shirt, goodie bag and lunch. Lunch time festivities take place at Lock 3 and include entertainment and door prizes.

Green Fair will be held at Lock 3 on May 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
