The Fifth Annual Light Up Lakewood Festival takes place Saturday, December 3rd from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Detroit Avenue, between Marlowe Avenue and Arthur Avenue. The area, between Lakewood Hospital and the Lakewood Library, will be transformed into a winter wonderland featuring a parade, Santa, a lighting ceremony, crowning of a festival king and queen, entertainment and more. Children’s activities include story time, a Twigbee-style shop, movies, visits with Santa and free trolley rides. “Over the past several years, Light Up Lakewood has grown into a true holiday tradition – a not-to-be missed event for our community,” said Tamara Karel, Light Up Lakewood Committee Chair. “Light Up Lakewood is made possible through the collaborative work of many Lakewood institutions and enthusiastic volunteers,” said Ian Andrews, Executive Director of LakewoodAlive. “Collaboration with those who share the goal of an economically stable and progressive community is what sets Lakewood apart and keeps Lakewood strong.” For more information and a complete list of events, visit http://downtownlakewood.org.
