MENTOR, Ohio — The Mentor Library is hosting a food drive allowing patrons to trade food for fines.

The Can Your Fines food drive will be held during the month of November at any Mentor Public Library branch.

Library patrons with fines can donate non-perishable food items, and, in return, have fines up to $5 forgiven. All donated food items are then given to food pantries at St. Gabriel and St. John Vianney.

In 2013, the Can Your Fines food drive yielded more than 800 pounds of food.
