LAKEWOOD, Ohio — A pair of local churches are holding the first ever 5K and fun run to raise money and awareness for areas battling malaria overseas.

The Lakewood United Methodist Church, along with ministry partner Cove United Methodist Church, are hosting the ‘Mission in Action’ 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run on Sunday, September 15.

The 1-Mile Fun Run will be held at 1:30 p.m., followed by the 5K Run at 2 p.m.

The fun run and 5K are scheduled to begin and end at Cove United Methodist Church, located at 12501 Lake Avenue.

Money raised from the event will be used to purchase mosquito bed nets for residents living in several countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.
