  • 1 shot, 1 arrested in fight at Barberton company

    BARBERTON, Ohio — A man was shot in the chest during a fight at a Barberton company Thursday. According to police, it happened at shortly after 7 a.m. at JR Engineering, 775 Wooster Road West. Two employees were involved in a fight at the time. The victim was taken to an Akron hospital. No other employees were hurt. Aaron Brooks, 29, of Barberton, was arrested and charged with felonious assault and having a weapon under disability.

  • Cavs GM: Team will continue “good dialogue” with LeBron about future in Cleveland

    CLEVELAND, Ohio — After making their pick in the 2018 NBA draft Thursday, the Cavaliers will “continue to have a good dialogue” with LeBron James as he considers whether or not to stay in Cleveland. James has until June 29 to take the player option for the 2018-19 season. If he opts out, he would become an unrestricted free agent. Cleveland can outbid any other suitor by offering him a five-year, max contract worth approximately $205 million.   • Crews respond to fire at Canary’s Family Restaurant in North Olmsted

    NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio — A North Olmsted restaurant caught fire Friday morning. Firefighters responded to Canary’s Family Restaurant at just before 5:30 a.m. As of 6:30 a.m., there was heavy smoke but no flames were seen. There is not yet information on any injuries or damage estimates. Lorain Road was closed as crews fought the fire. Stick with Fox 8 and for more.

  • Police look for suspects after man shot to death near Cleveland park

    CLEVELAND, Ohio — A 23-year-old man was shot to death near Dugan Park late Thursday. According to police, officers were called to 18207 Olympia Road at 11:40 p.m. for reports of a male shot. The man was found on a sidewalk near a parked vehicle with a gunshot to the torso. Officers administered first aid to the victim until paramedics arrived.   • Residents return to homes after Mogadore chemical leak

    MOGADORE, Ohio — Residents on three streets in Mogadore were evacuated to an area school after a rail car leak Thursday morning. According to a post on the Mogadore Police Department’s Facebook page, a rail car was seen off-gassing a chemical at Omnova Solutions, 165 South Cleveland Ave. As a precaution, an evacuation order was given to residents on Eleanor, Virgin and Sudomer streets. The residents were cleared to return to their homes shortly before 11 a.m.

    CLEVELAND — The 9-year-old girl who was shot to death as she sat in a car in Cleveland Wednesday night has been identified as Saniyah Nicholson.     CLEVELAND, Ohio — Latinx leaders from throughout Northeast Ohio spoke out Thursday in response to the recent the Ohio ICE raids. The leaders called out the the recent workplace raids enforced under the Trump administration and the effects of the raids on Latinx communities throughout Ohio.
