After graduating from John Carroll University, Joe spent 10 years working in TV journalism in both New York and Washington, DC. Now, he’s thrilled to finally be back in Ohio with his family.
After JCU, Joe was awarded the Tim Russert Post-Graduate Fellowship allowing him to jumpstart his career at the late Russert’s iconic news program.
Joe spent nearly six years with NBC News’ Meet the Press, eventually becoming a producer where he covered some of the biggest political stories in the country. He produced interviews with major political and cultural figures — including past (and the current) presidents — leading government officials, and traveled to rallies and debates to cover multiple election cycles. He also won an Emmy award as a reporter for a story about giant abandoned busts of every U.S. president.
After NBC, he decided to make the switch from behind the camera to being in front of it. In early 2016 Joe was hired as a reporter with FOX5 in New York City. Using his experience in political journalism from NBC, Joe became the station’s lead Political Reporter covering local and national elections (including the 2016 Republican National Convention here in Cleveland). While at FOX5 New York, Joe helped create, launch and anchor the station’s Noon newscast, aptly titled “The Noon.”
Some of his favorite segments were when he climbed the George Washington Bridge (well… there was an elevator – but Joe likes to say he climbed it.), when he visited the government’s second largest gold vaults at the West Point Mint, or when he followed the US Coast Guard for a demonstration of a helicopter rescue in New York Harbor (he didn’t jump in.)
He’s thrilled to join the FOX8 News team as co-anchor for FOX 8 News at 7 p.m. alongside Elizabeth Noreika and looks forward to putting his background in politics and passionate interest in all things outer-space and technology to good use.
