“There’s no place like home.”
Many have heard those famous words in the film, ‘The Wizard of Oz’, but they certainly ring true to Allison Brown.
She joined the Fox 8 family in September of 2012, and you can catch her reporting the day’s news on the weekends.
Unlike Dorothy, she has had to do more than simply click her heels three times to get back to Cleveland, but the Kirtland native believes that life is about enjoying the journey.
She is proud to call herself a Kirtland Hornet, and a BG Falcon.
As a student at Bowling Green State University, Allison was able to learn so much about the news business by being active in BG 24 News, the campus news station.
As she worked to complete her B.S. in Broadcast Journalism, she landed a job at Fox Toledo News (WUPW). Working from the ground up, Allison started by running cameras & teleprompter; nine years later she was anchoring the weekends, reporting stories, and producing broadcasts. She is proud to say the she worked on an Emmy Award-winning weekend newscast as a general assignment reporter.
Allison also hosted a segment called “Toledo Idol”, which featured local bands and musicians with dreams of making it big in the music industry.
Speaking of making it, a major highlight for Allison was when she spent time with Crystal Bowersox in Los Angeles during her stint on American Idol in 2010. She will never forget reporting on the red carpet and watching a girl from Northwest Ohio get nationally recognized for her gifts.
Allison was also honored to be named ‘Employee of the Year’ by her colleagues in Toledo.
When viewers don’t see her reporting the news, Allison is spending her time with her loving husband, Luke, their beautiful son, Emerson, and rambunctious Weimaraner, Olive. The oldest of five children, Allison is a music junkie, loves to run, and also draw. She also wants to be a better cook, but honestly would rather bake because she is coping with a serious sugar addiction!
