Woman, 2 dogs escape Trumbull County house fire; 1 dog currently missing

LEAVITTSBURG, Ohio (WJW) — Crews battled a house fire in Leavittsburg Sunday morning.

The fire occurred in the 200 block of Gillmer Road around 7:45 a.m.

According to the Warren Township Volunteer Fire Department, a resident and her two dogs were able to escape the blaze. Officials say one dog is currently missing.

The resident was treated on scene for smoke inhalation. The American Red Cross has also been contacted to assist her.

No one else was home at the time of the fire.

Authorities thank those who contacted 911 and went to the home to notify the woman to leave the burning house.

The fire is currently under investigation of the Ohio State Fire Marshal.  Officials have not yet released a cause of the fire.

Crews from multiple agencies including Warren City Fire, Braceville Township Fire, Champion Township Fire, Lordstown Village Fire, Newton Falls Joint Fire District, Southington Township Fire, US Air Force- Youngstown Reserve Air Base Fire, Warren Township Police Department, Warren Township Ladies Auxiliary, and the Ohio State Fire Marshal's office assisted with Sunday's fire.
