WILLOUGHBY, Ohio-- About 120 units are closed after a fire at the Pine Ridge Apartments in Willoughby on Monday.

Willoughby Fire Chief Todd Ungar said the original call was for a transformer on fire. Firefighters responded to six separate fires in the building, and went door-to-door to locate them and alert residents.

At least one person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

It's estimated that hundreds of people were displaced. Monday evening, they were escorted back into the building to retrieve necessities.

Goldberg Companies said it opened the Pine Ridge clubhouse and community center for some residents, and the Red Cross is providing beds.
