PARIS — One person is in French custody on preliminary terrorism charges after threatening a Sept. 11-style plane hijacking and attack.
Interior Minister Christophe Castaner said on France-2 television Thursday night that the person was arrested Sept. 26 while “in the process of planning” such an attack.
He provided no further details, but said it was the 60th time that French authorities have thwarted a potential attack since 2013.
The French counterterrorism prosecutor’s office did not provide further details.
The French security apparatus is under fire after a police administrator killed four colleagues inside Paris police headquarters earlier this month in what prosecutors consider a potential terrorist attack.
