Akron police: Patio furniture on I-76E causes semi-truck to flip over, closing roadway

AKRON, Ohio -- A semi-truck flipped over on Interstate 76 eastbound on Saturday after patio furniture blocked the roadway.

According to Akron police, a driver lost a patio table off the back of their truck, causing it to fall into the interstate.

The semi-truck reportedly swerved, trying to miss the table, and hit the median.  The semi then flipped over, causing fuel to leak from the vehicle.

The driver suffered minor injuries.

According to police, two other vehicles were involved in the crash.  The occupants of those vehicles appeared to have also suffered minor injuries.

The crash caused a road closure between Kelly Avenue and State Route 8.  Hazmat officials were on scene to clean up the spilled fuel.  State troopers were also on scene conducting traffic.

The road has since reopened.

This is a developing story. More information will be provided once it becomes available.
