Crews rescue woman from bedroom, assist 2 others during house fire in Akron

AKRON, Ohio -- Crews fought a blaze at an Akron home Saturday evening.

According to Akron fire, officials responded after a fire  broke out at a home in the 500 block of Wilson Street.

It was reported that three individuals were trapped in the house.

Firefighters assisted two of the firefighters out of the home.  The third, a woman, had to be rescued from a bedroom on the first floor.

She was transported to the hospital.  Her condition is currently unknown.

Additionally, an Akron Police Department officer was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation treatment and is expected to be released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Red Cross is helping the displaced residents.
