Lockdown lifted at Waterloo Local School District after suspicious note found

ATWATER, Ohio– The Waterloo Local School District was placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon.

A suspicious note was found in a boys bathroom in the middle school portion of the building, school officials said.

The lockdown was a precaution and there was no immediate threat, the Portage County Sheriff’s Office said. It was lifted at about 1:30 p.m.

As deputies searched the school, detectives questioned a student, who admitted to writing the note.

The high school, middle school and elementary school are housed in the same building, located on Industry Road in Atwater
