Newburgh Heights officer flips patrol car, hospitalized following rollover crash


NEWBURGH HEIGHTS - Newburgh Heights Police Chief John Majoy confirms a crash involving one of his officers.

The cruiser overturned near a home in the 3500 block of Independence in Newburgh Heights shortly before 11 a.m.

Chief John Majoy says the officer was trying to catch up with a traffic offender when he hit a patch of ice.

According to the chief, the car flipped several times.

The officer was trapped for a short time but was able to get himself out.

He was taken to the hospital.

The police chief says the injuries are not life-threatening.

No one else was hurt.

The officer is not being identified.
