Cleveland Indians fall to Arizona Diamondbacks in spring training matchup

GOODYEAR, Arizona – The Cleveland Indians fell to the Arizona Diamondbacks in Goodyear Ballpark on Sunday.

The teams paired off at 3:05 p.m.

Arizona took an early 5-0 lead against the Tribe.

The Indians had their first home run in the 3rd inning on consecutive doubles by Trayce Thompson and Daniel Johnson. They also got a 2-run homer from Oscar Mercado in the 9th inning.

Jason Kipnis had a pair of hits in each of his appearances.

Tyler Olson struck out the side in a perfect 5th inning frame and R.C. Orlan and Shao-Ching Chiang also had scoreless innings.

Unfortunately, the Diamondbacks still topped the Indians 12-3.
