SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Officials are investigating the cause of a South Euclid apartment complex fire that left two families displaced.
The fire occurred around 1 p.m. Sunday at the Parkview Garden Apartments on South Green Road.
Officials say the blaze destroyed multiple apartments.
It took hours for crews to extinguish the fire and board up windows.
The American Red Cross was called to assist.
Jay Williams and his family had their apartment go up in smoke.
“This wiped us out, we lost everything,” he said.
The Williams family members were working or shopping around 1:00pm when the fire broke out, and gratitude is not lost on them. Williams has three children, including a five-year-old.
“We keep a Bible on the top shelf, ironically, the Bible was charred, not burned,” Williams said.
South Euclid firefighters responded to the fire, along with The Red Cross.
“I guess the Lord had a better plan than we did because we were all gone and nobody was hurt."
It’s a blessing on a difficult weekend that the Williams family won’t forget.
“Still have to realize that even during the tribulations that you still got God's grace,” Williams said.
South Euclid fire crews have not determined the cause of Sunday’s fire but thankfully no one was injured.
