Delivery driver killed in accident near Bath Township Honey Baked Ham

BATH TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Bath Township police are investigating a deadly accident involving a delivery driver.

Police tell Fox 8 the driver was killed when he was crushed with pallets and a forklift around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The incident occurred in the West Market Plaza near the Honey Baked Ham.

The victim’s employer, Avalon Transportation Services issued the following statement Wednesday evening, “We are deeply saddened to report that at approximately 9:30 a.m. this morning, a fatality occurred while one of our drivers was making a delivery in the Akron area. Local emergency personnel responded immediately and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is involved. Avalon Transportation Services, Inc. is cooperating with both parties as they investigate the incident. Our hearts go out to the family, friends, and co-workers of the employee during this very difficult time.”

The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of family.
