Cleveland Heights educator leaving for Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio's largest school district has approved a contract agreement with its new superintendent.

The Columbus Board of Education on Saturday approved a three-year deal with Talisa Dixon that will pay her $242,000 a year, plus incentives.

Dixon is currently superintendent of Cleveland Heights-University Heights City Schools and previously said she wouldn't leave the suburban Cleveland district until the school year ends in July.

Under the Columbus City Schools deal, Dixon will start working at least one day a week in Columbus in January and begin the full-time job March 4. She said in a statement that she understood the urgency in wanting her in Columbus earlier than she had planned.

The Columbus district received an overall "F'' grade on the state report card released in September.
