CLEVELAND — The left lanes of Interstate 90 between East 22nd Street and Carnegie Avenue will be closed until further notice after a school bus crashed into a concrete barrier.

Chunks of concrete were in the road on Interstate 90 eastbound early Wednesday after the Cleveland Metropolitan School District bus crashed into a long portion of the median.

The accident took place on the westbound side of Interstate 90 near Interstate 77.

CMSD spokesperson Roseann Canfora said there were no children on the bus at the time of the crash. She said the bus appears to have hydroplaned before hitting the median.

The driver of the bus was taken to the hospital.

The Ohio Department of Transportation now will have a contractor reconstruct the portion of the median that was affected.
