I-Team: Gunman terrorizes former Cleveland Brown, others in Gates Mills

GATES MILLS, Ohio --The FOX 8 I-Team has found former Cleveland Browns star Joe Jurevicius robbed at gunpoint at his home in Gates Mills, and it happened days after a senior citizen found a man with a gun in her bedroom at another home in Gates Mills.

Investigators have arrested a suspect, and they are looking into connections between those crimes and more.

Multiple sources say the break in the case came because the suspect wears an ankle bracelet so that he can be monitored by authorities while he is on parole.

A 911 call shows the wife of Jurevicius called for help. She said, “We were just robbed at our house. Someone came to our back door and robbed us.” She added, “It was my husband. He was at the back door. He opened the door. Said give me all the money that you can.”

Meantime, days earlier, a grandmother said she walked into a bedroom and saw shoes on the floor she didn’t recognize. She told the I-Team a man with a gun had gotten inside. She said, "He jumped up and pointed it. I was screaming, And I was just running."

Over the weekend, multiple police agencies teamed up to arrest a suspect. He just got out of prison in May for robbery, receiving stolen property, and burglary. He had a long criminal record as a juvenile. And he wore an ankle bracelet so that the court system could monitor him on the streets.

He finally got arrested Saturday in Cleveland. Records show he crashed a car, then ran into a stranger’s home.

Jurevicius didn’t want to talk about specifics of the crime but he told the I-Team, “I support the police department. I support the FBI. I support the American flag.”

The Gates Mills chief calls the investigation “complex”, “a big puzzle."

As the investigation moves forward, the suspect is being held in jail on a parole violation.

No matter what happens in court, that grandmother may never get over what happened in her house. She said, "I was screaming, saying, ‘There's a gun, man with a gun in the house.’"
