LAKEWOOD, Ohio-- A woman has been indicted after investigators said she assaulted a Lakewood judge.

Nancy Kelsey is charged with assault and disorderly conduct.

The indictment said she “did knowingly cause or attempt to cause physical harm to Judge Patrick Carroll.” The incident happened in January after a dispute over a report of an accident in a shopping center parking lot.

Both charges are misdemeanors.

Attorney James Sammon says he represents the woman indicted. Sammon says, “This is an abuse of power. He used his power as a judge to get the indictment.”

Sammon says the woman simply had words with the judge, and she snapped photos of the encounter.
