At least 60 displaced, 1 taken to hospital in Cleveland apartment building fire

CLEVELAND, Ohio -Firefighters with the Cleveland Division of Fire battled an apartment fire on the city's east side early Monday morning.

The fire started in a kitchen at the Rainbow Terrace Apartments on Garden Valley Avenue around 3:30 a.m. Monday. Firefighters quickly got the flames under control.

But the flames reignited and firefighters were called back to the scene. This time, flames extended across the roof of one of the buildings.

Dianna Hogue tells FOX 8, ”I lost clothes, TV, my mother just passed away we had her TV I lost that.. everything. My 7-year-old came out shaking real bad, It was really smokey, I just ran through the stuff it was too much.”

While the exact cause is not known at this time, firefighters say the blaze started in a kitchen and believe it was a grease fire.

Firefighters say one person was taken to the hospital but was reportedly not seriously injured.

At least 60 people were displaced. The Red Cross is helping the families impacted.
