Sheriff: Deputy called to Geneva home for disturbance moments before officer-involved shooting

GENEVA, Ohio– Investigators are at the scene of an officer-involved shooting in Geneva.

It happened Wednesday afternoon near Geneva High School on South Ridge Road.

Sources tell the FOX 8 I-Team an Ashtabula County sheriff’s deputy was involved.

Ashtabula Sheriff Bill Johnson says the deputy was called to a home in Geneva for a disturbance, moments before the shooting.

“We are still piecing together what happened after,” the sheriff said. He said more information will be released Thursday morning.

The identity of the suspect has not yet be released. He has been taken to the hospital.

The deputy was not hurt.

BCI was called to the scene to investigate.
