LeBron James to receive NAACP Jackie Robinson Sports Award

CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Cavaliers LeBron James  will be awarded the NAACP Jackie Robinson Sports Award at the 48th Annual NAACP Image Awards in February.

The award is given for high achievement and community involvement and will be presented at the awards ceremony on February 11. The NAACP cited the fact that “throughout his career, James has made charitable efforts a priority, namely through the LeBron James Family Foundation” as a big reason for choosing him for the honor.

According to its website, The NAACP Image Awards “celebrates the outstanding achievements and performances of people of color in the arts, as well as those individuals or groups who promote social justice through their creative endeavors.”

There are 55 competitive categories in the areas of movies, television, music and literature.
