BAINBRIDGE TOWNSHIP, Ohio-- Grocery store chain Meijer is moving forward with plans to bring several stores to Northeast Ohio.

Over the last year, Meijer purchased properties in Cleveland suburbs. The earliest these locations would open is 2019, according to senior director of communications Frank Guglielmi.

Meijer owns sites in Avon, Mentor, Stow and Austintown, as well as at the former Geauga Lake site in Bainbridge Township. Guglielmi said it also has property under contract in Lorain and Wooster.

Meijer has more than 40 stores across Ohio, including locations in Toledo, Dayton, Columbus and Cincinnati.
