CLEVELAND, Ohio-- Cleveland police K9s modeled their new protective vests on Tuesday.

The ballistic vests for the Cleveland Police Canine Unit were donated by A. Ripepi and Sons Funeral Homes, Inc., and by SRT K9 Unit.

The specialized vests were personally fitted to each canine and are now part of everyday operations.

They will provide protection for canine partners as they patrol to keep the City of Cleveland safe. Police said canine officers perform dangerous duties each day on patrol, so the vests are a much-needed addition.
