MONTVILLE TWP., Ohio -- Authorities are sharing a video of what happened when a drowsy driver got behind the wheel in Montville Township last week.

The Montville Police Department shared the video from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, which shows a driver nearly striking a trooper and a person on I-71.

The trooper was changing the person's flat tire when the drowsy driver swerved and struck his patrol car. An investigation revealed the driver was tired and falling asleep. Thankfully, everyone is okay.

Police said, "We are glad that Trooper Harrison and the motorist are okay, but we plead with you to please pay attention when you are driving and don't drive when you are tired."

A study from AAA that came out just last week says driving on less than five hours of sleep is like driving drunk.

The report also says missing just one or two hours of sleep can double the risk of a crash.
