From Lake County Sheriff’s Office: UPDATE: This accident on I-90 is becoming a large event with multiple entrapments in vehicles. Numerous fire and police agencies are responding. Please find alternatives routes east and westbound to I-90 between Rt 44 and Vrooman Rd. Remember, with traffic being redirected there will be very heavy traffic on Rt 44 North, Rt. 2, Rt 20 and Rt 84 in Painesville, Perry, and Madison areas, as well traffic being getting off at 615 and 306 in Mentor off I-90. If possible please stay off the road in these areas when possible during the traffic rerouting because you will soon experience significant delays.

UPDATE FROM LAKE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE: Police and fire are working to get the injured from the accidents on interstate 90 to the area hospitals, clear vehicles and open traffic lanes. However the accidents are significant and it will be 4 to 6 hours at a minimum to get traffic lanes open. From FOX 8’s Melissa Reid: Cars are being diverted off Interstate 90 about six miles before the accident
90 E is closed at exit 200, the Chardon exit.
There is no detour; cars can take Route 44 North or South to alternate routes.
There are extreme delays getting up to 44 because the on-ramp is a sheet of ice.
We’re being told that it is taking people upwards of 2 hours to get from 44 to Route 6.
