Pedestrian hit by RTA bus in Public Square

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A pedestrian was hit by an RTA bus in the Key Tower area in Public Square at around 7 a.m. Wednesday.

RTA says the bus was northbound on East Roadway, making a left-hand turn onto Rockwell when it happened.

Cleveland police said the victim is a 69-year-old woman, who was taken to the hospital in critical condition with head injuries.

Police accident investigators are reviewing surveillance video from the bus and interviewing witnesses.

RTA said its "deepest thoughts and prayers are with the pedestrian and her family."
