BRATENAHL, Ohio– Charges have been dropped against the daughter of Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Shirley Strickland Saffold.

Sydney Saffold, 30, was charged with domestic violence for the August incident involving her mother. A Cleveland Municipal Court spokesman said prosecutors did not proceed with the case so it was dismissed.

Officers were called to Judge Saffold’s home in Bratenahl on Aug. 25 for a domestic dispute. The police report said the judge was watching her grandson when Sydney Saffold came home drunk. The pair got into an argument and that’s when Judge Saffold said her daughter punched her in the jaw.

The judge told officers she defended herself and hit Sydney back. Both women refused medical attention.

Sydney Saffold was taken into custody at the scene. Bratenahl police body cameras recorded her arrest.
