John Carroll University and the University of Mount Union both advanced to the semifinals of the Division III football playoffs Saturday.
John Carroll traveled to Wisconsin to take on UW-Whitewater. The game was tied at 7 until the third quarter when the Blue Streaks took a 14-7 lead.
Later in that quarter, John Carroll added to their lead with a touchdown, putting the score at 21-7.
In the fourth, they cemented their win, sending the score to a final 31-14. This is the second time in program history that the Blue Streaks have advanced to the national semi finals.
Mount Union won on the road as well, as they headed to New York to play Alfred University.
The Purple Raiders rushed for 322 yards, threw for 250 more and ended the game with 70 points on the scoreboard. The score: 70-45. They will play Mary Hardin Baylor next Saturday.
