CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A man is recovering in the hospital after being shot during an ATM robbery Thursday.

Leroy Barkley, of Cleveland, said he was at an ATM on Lorain Avenue early in the morning trying to withdraw money when a man approached him from behind and grabbed his shoulder.

“He first said he didn’t want to shoot me ” Barkley said. “I asked him if he was really going to rob me because it’s Christmas time?"

The suspect then said 'yeah' and after a brief struggle, shot Barkley in the chest. When Barkley tried to run away, the suspect shot him in the backside.
