BEREA, Ohio– Josh McCown will start at quarterback when the Browns play the Giants on Sunday, head coach Hue Jackson said on Monday.
Rookie QB Cody Kessler started in Cleveland’s loss to the Steelers, but suffered a concussion in the third quarter. Jackson said Kessler is now in the concussion protocol.
Pittsburgh’s win dropped the Browns’ record to 0-11.
“Yesterday was another tough blow for our football team. It is extremely challenging for us because it does get frustrating, but we all must remain positive together and determined. I know we will all do that. I understand where we are. I understand how people feel about us right now. This team is going to continue to work hard. We are going to continue to stick together because we know that is the only way success will come,” Jackson said. The coach said he believes the team can do better.
“All of our players a frustrated. They all want to win. But it’s all coming from a good place,” Jackson said. “I think what we got a do is stay positive through it all, that’s not easy to do, that’s hard to do.”
When asked about positives, Jackson said there weren’t many. But he did say rookie wide receiver Corey Coleman demonstrated toughness against the Steelers.
“Some of our rookies are growing and getting better, but I think the class will be judged at another time. It is too early to say where they are or what they will be or anything like that.”
