John Carroll, Mount Union win their NCAA Division 3 playoff first-round games

CLEVELAND – The NCAA Divison III football playoffs kicked off Saturday, with two hometown teams winning their first round games.

John Carroll (10-1) beat Olivet (MI) (9-2) at home, 37-12. The Blue Streaks will now advance to play Wesley College (Delaware) next Saturday at noon in the Sweet 16.

The Mount Union Purple Raiders (9-1)  played in New York, beating Hobart (NY) by a score of 38-21. They advance to the Sweet 16 as well, playing Johns Hopkins next Saturday at noon.

Mount Union has made the NCAA tournament a record 28 times and 25 years in row.

John Carroll stunned Mount Union November 12th by ending their 112-game regular season winning streak, 31-28.
