CLEVELAND, Ohio-- A man has died after being struck by an RTA bus on I-90 eastbound on Thursday afternoon.

According to police, a preliminary investigation revealed that his car broke down and he was trying to cross the highway.

It happened near West 140th and West 117th in Cleveland.

RTA said the No. 55 bus had just left from the Triskett bus garage to begin its route, so there were no passengers on the bus at the time, and the driver was not injured.

RTA told FOX 8 that the victim is a 46-year-old man. Earlier, Cleveland police reported that the victim was a woman.

The RTA said they are keeping the man's family in their prayers.

I-90 was closed from W 140 to McKinley for a time.
