Ohio high school football playoffs continue for divisions 3, 5, 7

CLEVELAND—The defending state champs, Akron Hoban continued their title defense by shutting out Howland 37-0 in Division III action on Saturday night. The shutout by Akron Hoban forced a running clock in the second half. The Knights will look to keep it going next Saturday night when the playoff games move to neutral sites.

Buckeye lost to New Philadelphia in Division 3 playoff action on Saturday night. The Bucks had a hard time generating any offense in the first half. Meanwhile, New Philadelphia RB Kye Crowthers had a big first half for the Quakers scoring twice, once from 9-yards out and the second time from a yard out. Buckeye finishes the year 9-2, after losing 17-14.

In Division 3, Region 10, Bay Village got matched up with the number one team in the region Toledo Central Catholic and the Fighting Irish allowed the Rockets just 7 points. It wouldn’t be enough against a team that finished the regular season 10-0, as Bay loses 41-7.

11 teams from our northeast Ohio advanced to the second round of the playoffs on Saturday. The State Championship games will be held the first weekend in December at Ohio Stadium in Columbus.
