Pedestrian dies in Geauga County crash

PARKMAN TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A man was killed while crossing the street in Parkman Township Friday morning.

James Carter, 76, of Maple Heights, was crossing US 422 shortly before 6 a.m. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said that's when he was hit by a Ford van.

Carter died at the scene. The driver was not injured.

The crash closed westbound lanes US 422 near state Route 528.

Troopers said the crash remains under investigation.
