Man dies after attack near Dollar General

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- An unidentified man is dead after police say he was assaulted early Saturday morning on Cleveland's east side.

It happened just after 1 a.m. in the 2900 block of East 116th Street, near the Dollar General store.

Cleveland police say a teenager ran up behind the man and struck him on his head.  The victim, believed to be in his 60s, was found on the sidewalk after a witness called 911.

He was taken to University Hospitals, where he was pronounced dead.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested.

Cleveland police homicide detectives are investigating.  The identities of both men have not yet been released.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office is working to find out how the victim died.
