PLAIN TOWNSHIP, OH – Sheriff’s deputies in Plain Township have arrested the driver of a car that was involved in a deadly hit-and-run accident a week ago.

The officers observed one car driving on various roads Tuesday evening. When they saw that car driving in the wrong lane of a road, they stopped the driver and immediately noticed that the car’s right side mirror and windshield were damaged. That damage seemed to be consistent with a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred on October 4th.

After talking with the driver, Joe Wilds, 22, he admitted to being involved in the October 4th crash.

In that accident, the sheriff’s office said they received calls about a man lying in the middle of Middlebranch Avenue. When they arrived, they found that he was deceased, and the car that hit him had fled the scene.

Wild was issued a citation for offense of lane travel as well as being booked into the Stark County Jail on hit-and-run charges.

The original crash remains under investigation, and the sheriff’s office is asking that anyone with information on it contact them at 330-430-3800.
