Suspect shot after Westlake robbery

WESTLAKE, Ohio-- A suspect was shot while Westlake police were responding to a robbery Monday morning, the department said.

A man robbed the CVS at Detroit and Bradley roads at about 9:30 a.m. He crashed his car at Detroit and Crocker roads while fleeing.

FOX 8's Peggy Gallek said state BCI agents have been called to help investigate the shooting.

A woman who lived close by told FOX 8 she heard five gunshots during the incident.

According to police the suspect was taken to St. John Medical Center. His condition is unknown. No officers were injured.

Westlake police also said Crocker Park was not involved in the shooting and was not placed on lock down.
