BROOKPARK, Ohio-- They serve as a symbol of hope and awareness: More than 800 feet of bras were draped on the sides of the Snow Road Bridge in Brookpark on Friday.

They are a unique way to bring awareness to breast  cancer. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The project was started in Kent by Jim Collver as a tribute to his girlfriend. Now, the displays are spreading across Ohio, raising awareness for a disease that has affected so many people, including those here at FOX 8. Anchor and reporter Stacey Frey is a breast cancer survivor. She spoke at Friday's event.

When the display comes down, the bras are donated. Collver says so far the project has donated more than 10,000 bras to women's shelters in Northeast Ohio.
