FREMONT, Ohio-- The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash that killed an ambulance driver, who was taking a patient to the hospital.
The crash happened Thursday evening near the intersection of County Road 197 and State Route 19 in Fremont.
Those living near the intersection say car crashes are becoming all too common.
"This is like the sixth one," said Junior Garcia. "It's awful. I want to put up crosses for each person who died. "
Garcia and another neighbor said they heard Thursday's crash and ran out of their homes to help.
"The ambulance was over in the cornfield," Garcia said. "As soon as I saw it I knew it was bad. "
The state patrol said the driver of an SUV did not stop at a posted stop sign on County Road and struck an ambulance driven by Sandra Cline, 45, of Holland, Ohio.
Cline died a short time later. Three others, including the patient in the ambulance, were injured.
"We really need a traffic light here," said Ron Davis of Fremont.
"How many more lives have to be lost before we do something?" Garcia said.
